Since dragonflies will only fly forward, and not backward, it symbolizes indomitable resolve.
It became very popular among samurais who is heading out on battle, and was used as a decoration on their helmets and armors.
Today, we can still see these symbols and patterns of dragonflies in our Kimono, Yukata, handkerchiefs, leather accessories, and many more.
There is also a nostalgic, beautiful song called Akatonbo (Red dragonflies), which every Japanese people know, and love to hear.
